Having initially met while working in Canada, TOBA was formed over a shared passion for building world class projects in New Zealand. The role This role is for a Project Manager in the Energy and Infrastructure team delivering exciting projects for our key clients. We are independent consultant project managers for our clients. Projects are in the following sectors: Electricity and Gas Transmission & Distribution Three waters infrastructure Telecommunications Transport Projects typically involve the following: Horizontal asset build and relocations: These projects often involve the construction of new pipes, wires and roads to facilitate the growth in load or relocation of the asset due to needs created by other projects. For example, HV electricity cabling, gas pipes, fibre, water/sewer. Stations build and refurbishment projects: These projects are driven by the clients need to build or replace assets in distinct locations. For example; new substations, pump stations, reducing stations, train stations, etc. Enabling Works: These projects can entail horizontal and/or stations work but are differentiated by their primary objective: to facilitate the construction of a much larger project. This may include; relocating utilities, demolishing existing facilities, carrying out contaminated site remediation, bulk excavation and ground improvements. New Technology Trials and Innovation Projects: These projects typically involve the trialing or deployment of new technologies in the infrastructure space. Examples include, Battery Energy Storage Systems, micro-grids, Smart Poles, solar PV and working with new innovative business models to help clients reduce costs and meet their sustainability objectives. Candidate Requirements We are looking for a project manager with 5+ years’ experience working as a Project Manager in an infrastructure related industry or role. The ideal candidate will have: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in construction/ engineering or an experienced technician/trade background who is working in a project management capacity; Experience with either a range of infrastructure projects or expertise in a specific sector (e.g. water, transport, electricity); Great communication skills and confidence to be client facing; Have excellent written skills; A track record of delivering similar projects – large and small; and The willingness to be part of a growing team and contribute to the growth of our business. Prerequisites Candidate must be legally entitled to work in NZ; and Have a valid NZ Drivers licence. You must be able to: Accept responsibility of, and manage all phases of project delivery, from initiation through to closeout. An understanding of the PMI/Prince2 Project Delivery approach is helpful, but not necessary; Confidently manage and build relationships with all stakeholders such as the client, consultants, contractors, suppliers and partners; Assemble and manage design teams; Draft and manage programmes; Manage budgets; Manage the tender process and construction activities; Administer construction contracts. Knowledge of NZS3910 or NZS3916 or similar construction contracts are helpful, but not necessary; Produce high-quality project reports and written correspondence; and Travel periodically for project assignments. Location and specific details Office location: 27 Gillies Ave, Newmarket Auckland. We are open to contract, part-time or permanent roles. We offer a very competitive salary commensurate with experience.
